A commonly neglected area of most Sea Doo watercraft is the jet pump. This area is completely under water even when the boat is just floating. It is subjected to constant high pressure water. When the seals are worn or have become hardened, the high water pressure forces water past the seal area and into the bearing area. This area is constantly being subjected to repeated high pressure peaks when the boat is coming in or out of the water, especially in choppy conditions.

The other way water can enter into the bearing area is from an improperly installed rear cap or loose oil fill screws. This cap is removed and installed every time the oil is changed or an impeller is replaced  When this cap is re-installed, the o-rings must be inspected or it could get pinched, allowing water to enter. Once water enters the area, it will start to rust the bearings and shaft. This moisture will pit the bearings where they contact the shaft. The pitting causes a rough surface for the bearing to roll on causing rapid bearing and shaft damage. All bearing and race sets are heat treated or case hardened. This hardness is only a few thousandths of an inch thick. Once the hardness is worn, softer metal lies underneath. Thus causing failure to the system.

Another common cause of pump shaft failure is due to breakage caused by the pump ingesting rocks or foreign objects. If the pump shaft does not break from the sudden impact, it could still fail in the near future due to stress cracks. In some instances the rocks will distort the impeller and cause the pump shaft to have excessive run out. This will result in the impeller rubbing and literally gouging or imbedding itself into the pumps wear ring liner. This excessive force can easily break the pump shaft.

While it is not possible to eliminate this problem, regular inspection and maintenance will extend life and allow for replacement before it becomes a problem and ruins an outing.

We offer the JETWORKS PUMP SHAFT as a direct replacement for the original pump shaft. The JETWORKS PUMP SHAFT is priced at 50% less than the original pump shaft.

The JETWORKS PUMP SHAFT in CNC machined then heat treated to 56 on the Rockwell C scale and then precision ground to less than five then thousandths (.0005) of an inch total run out., The JETWORKS PUMP SHAFT incorporates a heat treated 17-4 stainless steel race area to prevent corrosion where it meets the water.

The JETWORKS PUMP SHAFT is available separately or in a complete rebuild kit which includes:
    Pump Shaft
    Shaft Bearings
    Torrington Thrust Bearing
    Thrust Bearing Race
    Front Seal
    Rear Cap O-Ring

Fits all Sea Doos except 951 CC Models
